BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Hazy skies and summer go hand in hand across the state of Texas. Usually, we have the Saharan Desert to thank, as plumes travel all the way across the Atlantic into the Brazos Valley and beyond - this time though, we are looking out west.
An upper level ridge sits between the Brazos Valley and wildfires actively burning on the West Coast. The clockwise swirl of the high will pull that smoke down to the southeast, creating a film across the skies of Texas by the end of this week and into the weekend.
HAZY SKIES RETURN: Wildfire smoke from the Western US will be lofted over Texas to finish the week and head into the weekend.đ„đ« Minor hits to air quality are possible, especially Friday. Posted by Meteorologist Max Crawford on Wednesday, August 6, 2025
