AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - River Road Wildcats football is ready to usher in a new era with Aaron Wampler leading the charge.

One month after Bryan Welps called it a career as the Wildcats head football coach, River Road ISD announced that Aaron Wampler was coming in from Clarendon to fill the role — and the players are happy to have him.

“Coach Wampler gives 110% every day, and us athletes have to reciprocate that to do our best,” says junior Braxton Perkins.

Josh Fjetland, now in his final year of high school, says he wants to take care of business against District 1-3A opponents before he worries about the gold balls.
