CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) - Todd Stepsis is entering his first year as the head coach of Northern Iowa’s football program.

The team only has 11 transfers, which is low for a new head coach coming in. Many players decided to stick around, including tight end, Derek Anderson.

“There was no interest in leaving since we all came in together to this place and are about this place, no matter who the staff is. No matter what, we want to leave a legacy in this place,” said Anderson.

Stepsis said that he’s excited to coach the returners because they have a strong desire to play at UNI. The only question mark is how his teams stack up against others that he’s coached against in his career.

“Are we as talented as those teams? I think that’s a to-be-determined type of deal,” said Stepsis.
