If Truckee native Hahna Norman is able to twist, flip and spin her way to Milan Cortina, it will be her first trip to the Olympics, but it won’t be her first taste of Italy.
When Norman was 10 years old, her family moved from Truckee to Italy and lived there for three years.
“Spending a few years there and getting to know the culture, I think a part of it just feels familiar, which I think would be fun to get to go compete in Cortina,” Norman said. “It wouldn’t feel super foreign because I’ve lived there before.”
During her time in Italy, Norman didn’t just learn a lot about Italian culture. She learned a lot about herself, like how much she missed snowboarding, a sport she was just starting to learn before moving away from Tahoe.
“I think I definitely took it for granted before I move
