CHIHUAHUA, Mexico — Yanin Campos, a popular contestant on "MasterChef México," died in a car accident Saturday morning. She was 38.
Her brother Raúl posted to Facebook on Monday announcing her death and inviting people to mourn with their family at a wake.
She was driving her car on the Periférico R Almada highway in her home of Chihuahua, Mexico, when she crashed into a parked car, the State Public Security Secretariat told local newspaper El Financiero .
She was taken to the hospital for her injuries where she died two days later.
Officials tell El Financiero they're investigating the cause of the crash and if "driver distraction or excessive speed" were factors in it.
Campos starred as one of the 20 contestants in season four of "MasterChef México," which aired from late 2018
