HARDIN, Mont. – The Tullock Fire, located 18 miles northeast of Hardin, has burned 1,469 acres since it started on August 4, 2025. The cause remains unknown.

Currently, the fire is 40% contained with 60 personnel on site, including 11 engines, one hand crew, two dozers and three tenders, Montana DNRC said in a release.

Firefighters have been focused on establishing control lines around the fire's perimeter.

Ground crews have also started working into the interior to locate and extinguish hot spots.

In the coming days, crews will continue mopping up within the interior, up to 132 feet, to ensure all heat is extinguished.

Dozer operations will begin rehabilitating control lines to prevent erosion and restore the landscape.
