ELLINGTON, Conn. — The Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance recognized the advocacy efforts of a state senator on Wednesday by bestowing him its “Friend of Early Childhood” award.

State Sen. Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) was given the award in recognition of his work to support early childhood education, make childcare more affordable and advocate for families across Connecticut.

The alliance is a nonprofit that aims to unite organizations from all over the state to work for policy change to improve outcomes for young children, specifically in the areas of learning, health and economic security.

The nonprofit accomplishes this by offering its member organizations resources necessary to advocate effectively for early childhood interests in their communities and at the State Capitol in Hart
