CLEVELAND (WKBN) - The Cleveland Guardians have announced that the contract of Vince Velasquez has been sold to the Lotte Giants of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Cleveland receives cash in the deal.
Velasquez, who signed a minor league deal with Cleveland in February, has spent the bulk of the season pitching at Triple-A Columbus in the Guardians' organization.
This season in the minor leagues, he has posted a record of 5-4 with a 3.86 ERA in 18 starts. He has tossed 81.2 innings, allowing 31 earned runs on 71 hits with 95 strikeouts.
The 33-year-old was selected to the Major League roster by Cleveland in April, but he was designated for assignment a few days later without appearing in a game.
