SEATTLE — Seattle's political pendulum may be swinging again and shifting back to the progressive left.

After a few years of moderate leadership, early primary election returns suggest voters may be ready for change once again. In the race for mayor, for example, first-time candidate Katie Wilson is leading incumbent Bruce Harrell.

So why is this happening?

Rewind to 2020 when there was a wave of progressive energy that swept through Seattle and cities across the country. Protests filled the streets and demonstrators called for police accountability and systemic reform as there was a political swing to the left.
