MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In 56 seasons of Milwaukee Brewers baseball, there have only been around 20 hometown athletes who have played for the Crew. CBS 58's Scott Grodsky introduces us to the newest one: Danny Jansen.
Jansen was born in Illinois, but he grew up around Wisconsin baseball. The Brewers new catcher moved to Appleton as a kid, just a quick drive away from what is now his home ballpark.
"I've been here as a fan many times and it's cool to be in the home dugout," said Jansen. "Definitely lives up to the hype."
Jansen's first experience with pro baseball came as a kid when his family hosted some of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers during the season. Now his family gets to watch him in the majors.
