RICHMOND — Amazon wants to build a smaller second facility in Goochland County’s growing eastern industrial hotspot, according to permits filed with the county’s planning department.
Paperwork shows that the company is pushing to build a 144,000-square-foot “delivery center” off West Creek Parkway, near its intersection with State Route 6 in an effort dubbed “Project Apple.”
Amazon announced earlier this year that it was building a massive 3.1-million-square-foot fulfillment center at 2022 Ashland Road, about six miles north. Expected to open in 2027, that facility would be its second largest in Virginia, and its sixth in the Richmond area.
