TYLER, Texas (KETK)- The UT Tyler Athletic Department wrapped up its last day of Sports Camp for a Cause on Wednesday, raising more than $8,000 for flood victims in Kerr County.

"I'm glad our community was able to come together and raise so much money," Student athlete Makhai Lewis said.

Each of the university's team showed their support by raising money to send to flood victims in the Texas Hill Country as they recover from catastrophic flooding that started on July 4. The sports camp's regular registration fees were waived and replaced with a donation fee instead.

"The way our campus was able to access this camp was they needed to show proof of a donation to the community foundation of the Texas Hill Country," UT Tyler athletic director Sam Ferguson said.
