SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Having upperclassmen leadership is important in high school football. And at South Bend Riley, they have more than enough.
The Wildcats’ roster features over 20 seniors, and it’s a group that saw the success of a conference championship in 2023 and then the disappointment of a 2-7 year last season.
“They were able to see what it was like when we were doing things on a day-to-day basis to be successful, and they know that I did not make sure we were as prepared last year as we were the previous years, so we’re getting back to that,” says head coach Darrick Lee. “It’s been a nice, healthy self-reflection time for us. Being able to look in the mirror and realize what we’ve been doing isn’t good enough, and we’ve got to continue to keep getting better.”
