MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A Michigan State Police (MSP) trooper escaped serious injury when he was hit by a vehicle while investigating another accidents. According to an MSP press release, the mishap occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday on US-41, near Midway Drive in Marquette County’s Marquette Township.

According to the release, troopers from the Negaunee Post responded to the injury crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that a vehicle driven by a 56-year-old man was eastbound on US41 when it apparently lost control and was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by a 36-year-old woman. Police said the at-fault vehicle then struck a guardrail and came to rest in the left-hand turn lane of the roadway.
