The Gifford Fire off the Central Coast has grown to nearly 84,000 acres as of Wednesday, Aug. 6, making it the largest blaze California has seen this year as Southern Californians face the Rosa and Gold fires.

The fire has consumed 83,933 acres and is 9% contained, according to an update from the Los Padres National Forest on Aug. 6.

The wildfire, which the Los Padres National Forest said threatens 872 structures, has injured three people, one of whom was treated for burn injuries. It has also prompted evacuation orders for Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
