HUNTINGTON — Marshall’s quarterback battle is continuing through football camp.

Thundering Herd offensive coordinator Rod Smith provided updates on his side of the ball on Tuesday. No, there’s not a starter. However, there is improvement.

Smith has put emphasis on the importance of each repetition. After some struggles with turnovers were mentioned after Day One on Saturday, Smith said it has gotten better each day.

“These practices are like gold,” Smith said. “Our guys have to take each and every rep, each and every moment, and take it to heart. We can’t turn the football over.”

Smith, as expected, isn’t naming a quarterback that he prefers among JacQai Long, Carlos Del Rio-Wilson and Zion Turner. He’s seen good and bad, though.
