SANDPOINT — Two county departments were granted approval to accept state and federal grants that will go toward department affiliated improvements for the community.

Airports was approved for another FAA grant for airport development. The grant, awarded in the amount of $432,749, requires a 5% grant match in the amount of $21,637.

The approved funds will assist the department in its Airport Obstruction Removal project; an initiative aimed to mitigate safety issues and bring the county airports up to appropriate safety standards.

Bonner County Parks and Waterways was also approved for a grant in the amount of $57,232.50, requiring a $3,017.50 county match.

The department will utilize the approved funds for docks and navigation improvements at both Lake Pend Oreille and Priest Lake. The
