Brits are being told to prepare for a sudden noise from their mobiles in a nationwide trial of the emergency alert system. ‌

The test is set to kick off at 3pm on Sunday, September 7, with millions of phones getting a message warning of a nearby life-threatening situation. Mobiles on 4G and 5G networks will buzz and blare out a loud siren for about 10 seconds – even if they're on silent mode.
