SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Jane Pitt, Missouri philanthropist and mother of actor Brad Pitt, has died at the age of 84, according to a social media post from her granddaughter.

Pitt was the mother of the actor, Springfield businessman Doug Pitt, and Julie Neal. She was born Aug. 13, 1940, in Memphis, Tennessee, and she died Aug. 5 in Springfield.

Sidney Pitt, granddaughter of Jane, posted a tribute on Instagram earlier this morning, Aug. 6, to the late philanthropist.

"If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart," Sidney wrote. "She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked."

Sidney said Pitt could keep up with her 14 grandchildren "without missing a beat."
