The City of Lincoln Council faced unexpected costs of up to half a million pounds between April and June.

Just under £80,000 was spent offering emergency housing to residents who were told to leave the One The Brayford apartments due to the fire risk. A total of 51 residents moved out in April following a prohibition notice by the , which said it was too risky for them to remain.

Thirty-six families were temporarily housed by the council in bed and breakfasts under its legal duty, and the report says a number are still considered homeless. Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was working with the building’s owners to make the £15million building safe.
