The 2025 Sales Tax Holiday, or a tax-free weekend, is here and Texans have the opportunity to save on most purchases of clothing, footwear and various back-to-school essentials tax-free.

Tax-free weekend starts on Friday and goes until midnight on Sunday.

Qualifying tax-free items must be sold for less than $100 and be from a Texas store or from an online or catalog seller doing business in Texas.

The sales tax exemption only applies to items during the tax-free weekend.

Delivery, shipping, handling and transportation charges by the seller are part of the item’s sales price.

An example is if you buy an item for $95 with a $10 delivery charge, totaling $105, the item’s price is more than $100 and tax is due on the entire $105 purchase.
