EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office officials say an adult and a juvenile are in jail after deputies found they were involved in vehicle break-ins.

According to a police report, deputies responded to a welfare check in the Melody Hills Subdivision on Thursday just before 2:15 a.m.

Officials say they found one juvenile and one adult, later identified as Helkena Langinbelik, after they ran from law enforcement.

During an investigation, deputies discovered two vehicles had been broken into.

The suspects were not found near the vehicles when deputies first arrived, but after a brief search, they were both located.

The juvenile admitted to the crimes, while Langinbelik refused to cooperate.
