A Horn Lake man who led Mississippi officers on a high-speed chase into Tennessee will spend the next five years in prison.

Rashood Jefferson was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, five of which will be post-release supervision. Jefferson was previously convicted of felony fleeing.

The incident began in Olive Branch, where Jefferson attempted to evade officers. The pursuit escalated as he crossed into Tennessee, prompting a multi-agency response. A joint effort between the Olive Branch Police Department and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office resulted in his apprehension and extradition to Mississippi.

“You can run, but you cannot hide from law enforcement in DeSoto County,” District Attorney Matthew Barton said in a news release.
