Containment on the Rosa Fire along Highway 74 above Palm Desert continued to increase. In an early morning update Thursday, Cal Fire said the blaze had reached 25% containment, with a slight increase in size of 1,690 acres, up from 1,658 the previous night.
"Fire crews continued to make good progress today in strengthening containment lines," the agency said in the latest report, which was made Wednesday evening. "The area saw an increase in temperatures into the mid-90s with relative humidity continuing to drop."
Rosa Fire evacuations Thursday
Evacuation zones and warnings remained unchanged for communities close to the fire on Thursday morning. However, some residents who live in areas under an evacuation warning were able for the first time to return to their homes Wednesday night.
