King Charles will make a special address to the nation within days, Buckingham Palace has announced.
The monarch is set to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day with a special message.
His pre-recorded message will be broadcast ahead of a service of remembrance on Friday, August 15.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will join Second World War veterans and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for the service at the National Memorial Arboretum, in Staffordshire .
VJ Day marks the anniversary of Japan’s surrender to the Allies following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, which effectively brought an end to the Second World War.
