A traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Burke County Saturday ended with two people arrested on drug charges.

Jesse Yang, 37, of Hickory, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor open container of alcohol.

Boau Yang, 30, of Claremont, was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor resisting a public officer.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy stopped a vehicle on I-40 eastbound and found the driver, Jesse Yang, to have open beer cans within reach of the driver’s seat. Two additional passengers were in the vehicle, one of whom was later identified as Boau Yang, according to a release from the sheriff's office.
