LUBBOCK, Texas -- Ryan Menegay, 24, pleaded guilty to Manslaughter on Thursday morning in connection with the 2021 Central Lubbock death of Christopher Guerra, 27. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

On November 5, 2021, at 4:53 p.m., officers were called to the 4600 block of 50th Street for shots fired. Guerra was found with a gunshot wound on the ground outside an apartment. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators were advised of an argument between Guerra and his ex-girlfriend outside of the apartment. Detectives spoke with Menegay, whose statement was contradicted by details from other witnesses, court records said.
