Being a farm woman and not being a pie-baker, in a family of esteemed pie-bakers, almost feels like a character flaw.

“There is this expectation of you. That you can whip up a pie and just bring it to dinner,” one participant explained at the Percy Agricultural Society’s Pie-Making 101.

But meeting others, and sharing this shortcoming was… liberating, especially as we were taking steps to confront this mental barrier.

There couldn’t have been a more supportive or knowledgable group of mentors.
