FRANKLIN (Hunterdon) — After local police appeared to fail to properly investigate calls of gunshots and screaming where a young couple was found slain in a Pittstown home, the Franklin Township police chief and a sergeant have been suspended.

The operation of the police department has been taken over by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office.
