In a wide-ranging interview with CBS News, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said it'll be up to the Israeli government to decide whether to fully take over the Gaza Strip.

"It's not our job to tell them what they should or should not do," Huckabee said. "Certainly, if they ask for wisdom, counsel, advice, I'm sure the president would offer it. But ultimately, it's the decision that the Israelis and only the Israelis can make."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Fox News in an interview Thursday that Israel intends to take control of all of Gaza, but not to govern it. He said Israel does not want to "keep" Gaza, but instead "hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly."

Later on Thursday, Netanyahu was expected to discuss plans with senior ministers
