Two people have been arrested following a boating incident in North Carolina that killed a 10-year-old girl and left one woman severely injured, prompting medical officials to amputate her left leg, according to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
Quinten Gregory Kight, 40, and Annemarie Flanigan, 56, have been charged in connection with the incident, which took place around 4:35 p.m. at Harris Lake in Chatham County on Saturday, Aug. 2, about 25 miles south of Raleigh.
Kight is facing felony charges of death by impaired boating and serious injury by impaired boating, in addition to the misdemeanor charges of careless reckless operation of a motor vessel and operating a vessel while impaired, according to the Wildlife Resources Commission.
