CAROLINA, Puerto Rico – IU coach Darian DeVries confirmed guard Jason Drake is dealing with a lower-body injury that excluded him from Indiana’s trip to Puerto Rico this week .

Drake was one of two Hoosiers held out of a practice opened to the media last week. He rode on an exercise bike while his teammates worked through practice.

Nick Dorn, the other Hoosiers’ other injury absentee, did join the team in Puerto Rico. DeVries said last week Dorn likely won’t be available until sometime in the fall.

“He’s dealing with a lower-body injury right now,” DeVries said of Drake, who transferred to IU last spring from Drexel. “We’ll have more on that later.”

Drake averaged 11.1 points, 3.1 assists and three rebounds for Drexel last season, appearing in 33 games.
