Washington — President Trump plans to announce a pact for peace between two former Soviet republics, Azerbaijan and Armenia, at the White House on Friday.

Azerbaijan's president, Ilham Aliyev, and Armenia's prime minister, Nikol Pashinyan, will be at the White House for a "Historic Peace Summit" and a "Peace Signing Ceremony," Mr. Trump wrote Thursday night on his social media platform.

"The United States will also sign Bilateral Agreements with both Countries to pursue Economic opportunities together, so we can fully unlock the potential of the South Caucasus Region," the president wrote.

Aliyev and Pashinyan will attend the events in the Oval Office and State Dining Room, sources familiar told CBS News.
