The Lyon County Commission approved a quote for a survey and relocation of the endangered species of mussel residing in the stretch of the river where the new Rocky Ford Bridge will be located during their action session meeting Thursday.

The quote from BioSurvey Group is for an estimated total cost of $24,705.58. The total cost may be higher or lower depending on whether they are able to complete the project in their allotted amount of time. The quoted cost presented to the commission includes an additional day, with each extra day increasing the total by $7,137.43.

Although much of the cost of the construction of the new bridge will be paid from the KDOT Reimbursement Grant, pre-construction costs such as the mussel survey and relocation are paid by the county. This is a necessary step
