E&H fourth, UVa-Wise ninth in SAC poll

Emory & Henry was predicted to finish fourth, while the University of Virginia’s College at Wise was pegged for a ninth-place showing in the South Atlantic Conference preseason football coaches poll.

E&H finished with 63 points, trailing Lenoir-Rhyne (85), Wingate (80) and Carson-Newman (79) in the poll.

UVa-Wise received 26 points worth of votes with Tusculum (24) being the only team the Highland Cavaliers finished ahead of in the rankings.

E&H is coming off 9-2 last season in Quintin Hunter’s first season as head coach. The Wasps open the season on Aug. 30 at Glenville State.
