In the Mickey Mantle/Shai Gilgeous-Alexander debate, score one for SGA.

David: “I’d like to add my two cents on the title of greatest Oklahoma sports hero. To me, the crux of the issue is, what makes one a hero? Sure, such a person would be a great athlete with ties to the state, and Mantle was as good as they come in that regard. But SGA brings so much more to the table.

“1) How he became so great — through hard work. As a rookie for the Clippers, no one (even Sam Presti) could have known what a star he would become. But SGA made himself into that star with an incredible work ethic that brought results. Who can’t admire that?
