AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Independent School District (AISD) said it would provide free breakfast and lunch to all students at 76 campuses.
The meals are federally funded through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, which allows schools in low-income areas to serve free meals to all enrolled students, according to the district.
“Thanks to funding from the Texas Legislature, students approved for reduced-price meals will receive both breakfast and lunch at no cost during the 2025–26 school year,” AISD said.
According to the district, campuses not eligible for CEP would provide meals to students based on meal status, which includes free, reduced-price, or paid meals.
AISD said it worked with local agencies to identify children eligible for free or reduced-price meals.
