PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- A 52-year-old man from Woodbridge is facing multiple charges after authorities said he sexually assaulted a young child over the course of more than two years.

The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) said its investigation into the assaults concluded on July 31 after authorities arrested and charged Gabriel Benitez Vasquez.

PWCPD said Benitez Vasquez reportedly assaulted a child who was under the age of 10 multiple times between January 2019 and March 2021.

The child only recently reported the incidents, prompting detectives' investigation.

Benitez Vasquez was charged with three counts of indecent liberties, three counts of aggravated sexual battery, abduction, sodomy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
