In February 2023, a first class passenger on a Virgin Atlantic flight from London Heathrow to Lahore verbally abused cabin crew and issued violent, racially charged threats during the eight-hour journey. The passenger, 37-year-old Salman Iftikhar, was flying with his wife and three children when the incident happened.

He has now been sentenced to 15 months in prison following a hearing at Isleworth Crown Court. Iftikhar’s behavior reportedly worsened after drinking on board, which prompted concern among the crew. The court heard that his actions left one crew member unable to return to work for over a year.
