(Gray News) – Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband and talent manager, died of cancer, according to People .

He was 48.

A representative for the family told People in a statement that Blackstock had been battling cancer for more than three years.

“He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,” the statement released to People said.

Clarkson announced Wednesday she is postponing the remaining August show dates at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Clarkson said she is caring for her children because their father had fallen ill.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” the singer wrote in a post on Instagram .
