STATESBORO, Ga. ( WTOC /Gray News) - A school employee was charged after cocaine was found inside an elementary school on Friday.

According to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, School Resource Officer Jessica Kite was “notified by a school administrator that a member of the custodial team had discovered a small, clear bag containing a suspicious white substance on the floor of a commons area” at Sallie Zetterower Elementary School.

Authorities confirmed the substance was cocaine.

Bulloch County Schools’ Safety Director Todd Mashburn and school administrators reviewed security camera footage and identified a suspect.

Pamela Darien is being charged with possession of cocaine and violation of controlled substance laws within a drug-free zone. She turned herself in on Wednesday.
