The suspect in a multivehicle crash in east Vancouver apparently died by suicide Wednesday evening after fleeing the scene on foot, according to Vancouver police.

At least 10 people were injured, two seriously, in the four-car crash. One person was ejected from a vehicle, according to a statement from Vancouver police.

About 5:15 p.m., a man driving a tow truck ran a red light, hitting multiple vehicles at the intersection of Southeast 160th Avenue and Mill Plain Boulevard, police said.

The man, whose identity hasn’t been released, ran from the scene, witnesses told police. He headed toward an apartment complex in the 17700 block of Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard, where police say he lived.

SWAT was called to assist because the man reportedly had a gun.
