BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Weather plays a crucial role in agriculture - impacting plant and harvest schedules, crop health and yield, and as a result, farmer’s finances.
The month of May was anything but average in terms of rainfall in the Brazos Valley. After record rainfall, many pastures were left flooded, but Burleson County farmer, Jay Wilder, says his crop was spared.
”We had 6 to 10 inches of rain in the area, fortunately, down here we were at the lower end of that. That’s an issue we’ve had in the past, you know, like last year - it just rained and rained and rained, and we really struggled getting the crop out, we had to do a lot of field work to get it back in shape for this year’s crop,” Wilder said.
