LULA, Ga. — Some Georgia lawmakers want to expand Georgia’s tourism industry. A senate study committee will explore ways for the state to climb the list of tourist-friendly states, now topped by Florida and California.
Cali Atkins and six of her friends from Orlando stopped at a Hall County tourist attraction called Jaemore Farms on their way back from a rain-soaked visit to Tallulah Gorge.
"It was a big change in scenery, so we thought it was worth it," Atkins said. "We definitely have to come back."
They were among the many out-of-town visitors at the plus-sized produce stand.
"Florida, South Carolina, a lot of the eastern states are traveling through here going to the mountains," said the proprietor, Drew Echols, who is also a Georgia state senator.
