MESA, Ariz. — A 22-year-old father is facing a murder charge following the recent death of his four-week-old daughter in Mesa.

Jonathan Enriquez was recently arrested by Mesa police following an investigation into the July 26 death of his baby daughter.

Police responded to an apartment complex on July 11 for reports of a baby not breathing. Upon arrival, the baby was unresponsive and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said Enriquez was reportedly alone with the baby when she stopped breathing. Injuries in various stages of healing were observed on the infant, police said.

A post-mortem examination allegedly revealed the baby had sustained a skull fracture, brain bleeding and leg fractures, court records show.
