AUBURN — The moment was brewing over the course of a few plays during Auburn football 's preseason practice Thursday morning.
Stanford transfer quarterback Ashton Daniels found sophomore wide receiver Perry Thompson III on a button hook route during an offensive team period. Daniels found Thompson on the same route the following play, then again on the next one, and another time after that.
One play later, the period ended, and Hugh Freeze 's head set came off. He went right to Thompson.
The words from coach to player couldn't be heard, and lips weren't near enough to read, but there was no mistaking Freeze's message: He wanted more, be it effort or hustle, which Thompson confirmed following practice.
"It feels good," Thompson said when asked about the moment. "He (Freeze) ripp
