The Santee Police Department has boosted the reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for killing a 17-year-old.

The reward is now $7,500. Back in June, the department set the reward at $5,000.

Ja'Mareion "Mari" Deangelo Crawford died after someone fired shots into a Boo Circle home at 2:40 a.m. Jan. 13.

Santee Police Chief Kevin Borghi said at least 10 people were inside of the home when the shots were fired. Crawford was the only one struck by a bullet.

Crawford was a member of the Lake Marion High School Class of 2026, according to his online obituary. His goal was to have a career in masonry.
