An Allentown police officer is facing charges and is accused of hitting a suspect in the face with his gun during a traffic stop back in July, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office.

Officials explained that officers with the Allentown Police Department were called to the 700 block of North 11th Street around 8 p.m. on July 23 after a woman reported that her boyfriend was threatening her.

The woman said that her boyfriend threatened her through phone calls and text messages where he showed off a gun and said he would show up at her home, police said.
