HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — The summer heat may be the focus for many in Holland this August, but anticipation is growing for the more than $11 million Holland Community Ice Skating Park.
The project is entering its final phase of construction, with much of the recent work completed underground. Holland resident John Jonker and his wife Elaine have been watching the progress.
“When I grew up this was a wasteland here and this is now an attraction,” John Jonker said. “She doesn’t like winter very much so maybe this will help a lot.”
City Manager Keith Van Beek has seen the interest in the project grow.
“You really can’t come out to the site without seeing someone who’s driving by and standing or peeking over the fence,” Van Beek said.
