A tax increase proposal to support a slate of education programs failed to meet a key deadline after Harris County commissioners said County Judge Lina Hidalgo’s efforts to pass the measure disrupted decorum during Thursday’s meeting.
The proposal would have given Harris County voters a say on whether to support a tax increase to continue funding certain child care and education training programs. The initiatives were previously supported by pandemic-era federal dollars.
